My Clean Beauty At-Home Facial Routine for Glowing, Balanced Skin

Self-Care Sunday: My At-Home Facial Routine for Glowy, Balanced Skin

This is my go-to facial routine whenever my skin feels congested, dull, or needs a reset. I have different rituals depending on what my skin needs, like extra moisture when it’s dry, but this one is my favorite for deep cleaning and bringing back that healthy glow.

There’s nothing better than slowing down on a Sunday and giving your skin a little extra love. I’m a big believer that clean beauty isn’t just about what’s not in your products — it’s about finding formulas that actually work and nourish your skin long-term.

Here’s how I create an at-home facial ritual that delivers spa-like results using a few of my Hey Bella favorites.

Step 1: Gentle Cleanse — Fitglow Beauty Ceramide Cleanser

I always start with a fresh canvas. The Fitglow Ceramide Cleanser is my new obsession, incredibly gentle, fragrance-free, and perfect for all skin types (even sensitive rosacea/eczema prone). It removes buildup without stripping, leaving your skin soft and calm.

Tip: Massage for 30–60 seconds to boost circulation and give your cleanser time to break down impurities.

Step 2: Steam + Double Cleanse — Earth Harbor Enzyme Oil Cleanser

Next, I turn on my mini facial steamer — I love using this when I really want to detox my skin. The one I use is no longer sold, but this similar version works just the same.

While steaming, I go in with the Earth Harbor Enzyme Oil Cleanser. The papaya enzymes in this formula double as a gentle exfoliator, helping to smooth and brighten without irritation. Try this combo, your skin will feel unbelievably soft afterward!

Tips:

  • Only use distilled or filtered water in your steamer to prevent mineral buildup and bacteria.
  • Don’t over-steam — too much heat can actually dry out your skin. Five minutes max is plenty to open pores and boost circulation.

Step 3: Mask — Josh Rosebrook Cacao Antioxidant Mask

The mask that changed everything for me. The Josh Rosebrook Cacao Antioxidant Mask was the first clean-beauty product that truly proved natural skincare can deliver results. Unlike most clay masks that over-dry and compromise your barrier, this one deeply cleanses while balancing oils and restoring hydration.

It leaves your skin smooth, bright, and calm — never tight or stripped.

Step 4: Gentle Extractions

After rinsing off the mask, I use a professional stainless-steel extractor (like this one) to gently remove whiteheads or congestion.

No harsh squeezing or picking — just light pressure. The goal is to keep the skin calm while lifting away impurities.

Step 5: Replenish, Sculpt + Seal

After extractions, your skin needs hydration and barrier support. I follow with Josh Rosebrook’s Hydrating Accelerator and his Hydration Boost Concentrate a hyaluronic acid serum to plump and soothe, then lock it all in with the Darlin Tallow Balm.

This thick, nutrient-rich balm melts beautifully into the skin, sealing in hydration and giving that dewy, healthy glow.

Step 6: Scuplting Extras: Gua Sha + Facial Cupping

Once my skincare is applied, I take a few extra minutes to sculpt and lift using my Gua Sha tool (shop it here) — it helps boost circulation, reduce puffiness, and gives your face a natural glow.

For an extra perk, I’ll occasionally use facial cupping (this set is great) to increase blood flow and support lymphatic drainage — just be gentle and always work on well-moisturized skin!

This final step leaves my skin feeling refreshed, lifted, and completely nourished.

The Result:

Soft, deeply cleansed, balanced skin that feels like you just left a facial appointment — minus the price tag.

Whether you do this once a week or once a month, it’s such a grounding ritual to reconnect with your skin and slow down before the week ahead.

FAQ — Clean Beauty Facial Routine

How often should I do an at-home facial?

Once a month is great, and if your skin and time allow, bi-monthly is perfect. This cadence lets your skin reset and maintains balance without over-exfoliating.

Can I steam my face if I have sensitive skin?

Yes—keep it brief. Use distilled or filtered water and limit steaming to five minutes max. Follow with a soothing serum and a good moisturizer to restore hydration.

How often should I use a Gua Sha or facial cupping tools?

Gua Sha can be used daily for lymphatic drainage and tension relief. Facial cupping is best once or twice a week. Always work on well-moisturized skin with light pressure.

Can I use a tallow balm if I have oily or acne-prone skin?

You can—just do a spot test first if you’re prone to breakouts. Tallow balm supports the skin barrier, but every skin type is different. Start with a pea-sized amount at night.

Do I need to exfoliate if I’m using enzyme cleansers?

An enzyme-based cleanser (like Earth Harbor’s) usually provides enough gentle exfoliation for your weekly facial. If needed, add a mild exfoliant once a week—skip harsh scrubs that can disrupt your barrier.
