A Different Approach to Facials: My Philosophy as a Holistic Esthetician
Holistic Esthetics at Hey Bella
If you're looking for a holistic facial in Orange County, CA my approach at Hey Bella is a little different from the traditional one-size-fits-all spa facial.
Every treatment begins with the same philosophy: ingredients first, skin health always, and treatments tailored to the person in front of me.
I'm Eunice, the esthetician and founder behind Hey Bella, a clean beauty shop and holistic facial studio in Anaheim Hills serving clients throughout Yorba Linda, Anaheim, Brea and North Orange County.
Long before I became an esthetician, I spent years immersed in the clean beauty space, reading ingredient lists, researching formulations, testing products and becoming increasingly selective about what I would use on my own skin and recommend to others.
Becoming an esthetician felt like a natural evolution of that work.
As I've gotten older, I've also become increasingly interested in what it means to age well without feeling like I constantly need to "fix" my face. I wanted to understand what we could accomplish by consistently supporting the skin: protecting the barrier, encouraging healthy skin function, addressing inflammation, using thoughtful professional treatments and choosing ingredients that actually serve a purpose.
That philosophy became the foundation of the Hey Bella treatment room.

What Is a Holistic Esthetician?
The word holistic gets used a lot in skincare, and it can mean different things to different people.
At Hey Bella, holistic esthetics means looking at the skin as a whole rather than simply chasing an individual symptom.
If someone comes into my Anaheim Hills treatment room concerned about acne, pigmentation, dryness, redness, fine lines or texture, I don't only look at the thing they want to get rid of.
I want to understand what their skin is telling me.
What is the condition of their barrier? What are they currently using at home? Are they over-exfoliating? Is their skin inflamed or dehydrated? Have they recently had another treatment? And what does their skin actually need right now?
Sometimes the answer is an advanced treatment.
Sometimes it's exfoliation.
And sometimes the best thing I can do for someone's skin is less.
Holistic doesn't mean I'm opposed to science, technology or advanced skincare treatments. Quite the opposite. Depending on the client and their skin, I may incorporate modalities such as LED, microcurrent, ultrasonic technology, high frequency, nanoneedling or carefully selected professional peels and exfoliation.
I simply believe those tools should be used intentionally rather than automatically.
Ingredients First—But Never Ingredients in Isolation
One of the most important philosophies I bring into the treatment room is ingredients first—but never ingredients in isolation.
I can love an ingredient and still recognize that it may not be what your skin needs right now.
A beautifully formulated exfoliant isn't helpful if your barrier is already compromised. A rich restorative product may be wonderful for one client and completely unnecessary for another.
That's where my years in clean beauty and my work as an esthetician come together.
I look closely at what's in a product, why it's there and how the formula is designed to work—but then I look at the person in front of me.
The ingredient list matters. But so does the skin I'm putting it on.
That's why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all facial, just as I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all skincare routine.
What Makes a Hey Bella Facial Different?
Every Hey Bella facial is designed around the condition of your skin at the time of your appointment.
That means two clients can come in with the same concern, something like acne, pigmentation or fine lines—and receive very different treatments.
Before deciding what to use, I consider things like:
- your current skin condition and barrier health
- sensitivity, inflammation and dehydration
- congestion or active breakouts
- pigmentation and sun exposure
- your current skincare routine and active ingredients
- recent professional treatments
- your goals and how aggressively your skin should be treated
- From there, I select the products, techniques and modalities that make sense for your skin.
It's also why I ask new facial clients to begin with my Skin Discovery Facial. I don't want you to have to diagnose your own skin or figure out which advanced treatment you need before we've even met.
My job is to help you understand that. Book your appointment here.
How I Choose Professional Skincare Products
My approach to product sourcing is one of the things that makes the Hey Bella treatment room different.
I've spent years in clean beauty, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that a "clean" label doesn't tell me enough.
There are brands marketed heavily as clean that contain ingredients I personally choose not to use or carry. At the same time, I've discovered exceptional professional skincare products that aren't marketed primarily as "clean," yet their formulations fit my standards beautifully.
I don't choose a product because the front of the bottle says clean, natural or non-toxic.
I turn the bottle around.
I evaluate the ingredient list, the overall formulation, why particular ingredients are included, how the product performs and how skin responds to it.
And even when I trust a brand, that doesn't mean every product automatically makes it into my treatment room.
Every product has to earn its place on my backbar.
Why I Use Le Mieux
Le Mieux is probably the best example of this philosophy.
Le Mieux isn't necessarily the first brand someone would think of when searching for clean skincare. It's a professional skincare line known more for advanced formulations and its use among estheticians.
But when I began looking closely at individual formulations, I was impressed.
Not only have I found many of the products to perform beautifully in the treatment room, but the majority of the products I've selected from the line fit remarkably well within the ingredient standards I've established for Hey Bella.
That matters more to me than a clean-beauty marketing claim.
Instead of asking, "Does this brand call itself clean?" I ask, "What's actually in this formula, and is it appropriate for the skin I'm treating?"
I also don't automatically use everything Le Mieux makes. I evaluate individual products and choose the formulations that make sense for my standards and treatment philosophy.
Why I Use Osmosis Skincare
Osmosis is another new brand I brought in and an important part of my treatment room because its approach complements the way I think about skin.
I'm particularly interested in treatments that can support progressive improvement rather than making aggressive resurfacing the default.
I use select Osmosis products in some of my advanced treatments, including nano infusion, when we want to take a more targeted approach to concerns such as visible signs of aging, texture and overall skin vitality.
There is absolutely a time and place for exfoliation and resurfacing.
But I don't believe healthy-looking skin requires constantly stripping, peeling or irritating it.
My preference is progressive, intentional treatment with respect for the skin barrier.
Looking for an Organic or Natural Facial in Orange County?
Many clients find Hey Bella because they're specifically searching for an organic facial, natural facial or clean beauty facial in Orange County.
If that's what brought you here, you'll probably feel very at home in my treatment room.
I've spent years in the clean beauty industry, and botanical and naturally derived skincare are still an important part of the way I work. You'll find products from some of my longtime clean beauty favorites—including Josh Rosebrook, Fitglow Beauty and The Body Deli—incorporated into my facials when they're appropriate for the client's skin.
But I also think it's important to explain what "natural" and "clean" mean to me as an esthetician.
I don't believe a product is automatically better for your skin simply because it's labeled natural, organic or clean. And I don't believe professional or clinical skincare is automatically better simply because it sounds more advanced.
I look at the formulation first.
That's why my treatment room intentionally brings both worlds together: beautiful botanical skincare and carefully selected professional formulations.
Healthy Aging Instead of Fighting Aging
A large part of becoming an esthetician came from my own experience with aging.
I don't believe aging is something we need to be afraid of. And I also don't think there's anything wrong with wanting our skin to remain vibrant, smooth, clear and healthy as we get older.
Those ideas can exist together.
Personally, I've wanted to explore how far I can take my own skin through consistent skincare, professional treatments, sun protection, technology and thoughtful ingredients without feeling pressure to dramatically change the way I look.
That journey has reinforced some of the principles that now guide my treatments:
Consistency matters.
Inflammation matters.
Barrier health matters.
Daily sun protection matters.
And the strongest treatment isn't automatically the best treatment.
My approach isn't about promising "perfect" skin or making you afraid of getting older. It's about helping your skin function and look its best at whatever stage you're in.
What Should I Book for My First Facial at Hey Bella?
All new clients, start with the Skin Discovery Facial.
This 75-minute customized facial gives me time to assess your skin in person, discuss your current routine, learn about previous treatments and understand what you're hoping to improve.
From there, I customize the treatment based on what I see.
Depending on your skin, your facial may incorporate deep cleansing, gentle exfoliation, extractions, facial massage, LED, microcurrent, ultrasonic technology, high frequency, customized masks or other modalities.
Most importantly, Skin Discovery gives us a starting point for what comes next.
Future treatments can then be customized through my Bespoke Facial or, when appropriate, more targeted options such as advanced nano infusion or a progressive peel series.
Botanical Skincare Meets Professional Esthetics
Ultimately, I don't want to choose between being a "natural facial studio" and a "results-driven facial studio."
I believe there is room for both.
A treatment might include beautiful botanical skincare from Josh Rosebrook, Fitglow Beauty or The Body Deli, carefully selected professional skincare from Le Mieux or Osmosis, hands-on facial massage, and technology such as LED, microcurrent, ultrasonic or nano infusion.
Or your skin may need something much simpler.
That's the benefit of not being locked into a single product line or predetermined facial protocol.
I don't build your facial around a brand. I use the best of each brand to build the facial around you.
